John Aspinall

He was a student at Oxford and was in the Marines when starting gambling. Aspinall loved it so much that he missed his finals to attend the races at Ascot and gamble the entire semester’s grant at short odds. The man started to win since 1956, the cash he earned allow him to create  a private collection that included leopards, rhinos, bongo antelopes and Kowalski’s horses and to buy a dilapidated house near Canterbury which had over nine acres of parkland and gardens that was to become his 1st zoo. He was also revered because of his advocacy and love for animals.

Archie Karas

The Greek-American gambler was a legend and is considered one of the most respected and famous gamblers in the world although he has amassed a lot of wealth and lost millions of dollars continually. One of his most incredible gains was turning forty million dollars from fifty dollars in a streak between 1992 and 1995 which is also one of the most incredible streaks that have ever been recorded. 

Titanic Thompson

Titanic Thompson was also known by the name Alvin Clarence Thomas and more of a hustler than a gambler due to his manners of strucking bets that he hoped to win. Thompson was a highly skilled card player but he also win different types of proposition bets and he never cheat to win. The man passed on in 1974 at the age of 81, he is one the most famous gamblers of all time.

There are many famous gamblers who are known due to various reasons. Some were losers, some were quite successful, some gained their fame due to their cheating habits while some are known hustlers. Whatever the reason, these famous gamblers are both professional who have made into history without having to leave their cosy couch.
